Two sides of the same coin
Belly and back as a functional unit: the New and Integrative Treatment approach
The functional disorder of the bowel affects the organism in a manifold and damaging way. A intensive relation exists particularly to an affliction complex, which nobody would associate with the alimentary tract at first glance: pain in back and joints.

The musculature of our body is one of the main sources of back and joint pains. It is influenced directly and indirectly by the bowel. The intestinal loops on the rear abdominal wall have intense contact to important back muscles. A stimulus of the bowel can directly transmit itself to adjacent muscles and cause painful tenseness.
The extension of the abdomen, caused by a bowel dysfunction, deflects the center of the gravity ahead and enforces a non-ergonomic posture, in order to maintain the balance on both feet. The modified posture influences the postural muscles negatively.
The extented bowel needs more space upwards and downwards. The space consumption upwards makes the neck muscles lift the ribcage to an inspiratory position and thereby shifts the diaphragm towards the head. This may cause occipital headache and painful long-term tenseness in the shoulder and neck region.
The pressure to the extended guts to the pelvic floor can cause low-back pain. Another source of muscle pain and also painful disturbances of the joint function is provoked by acidification and intoxication of the body. These painful disturbances implicate other pains: blockages and wrong movement pattern.
The numerous relations between back pain and disordered bowel prevent a success of a monocausal therapy just of the back, as long as the ultimate cause is not resolved.
The F.X. Mayr Health Center Baabe is the first offering a holistic therapy to its guests with orthopaedic diseases. It comprises the disordered alimentary tract as well as the complex relations causing the malfunctions of the musculoskeletal system.
